Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs

I will say for a first book by this author, it was will worth reading. Its a mix of photographs and very well put together story telling. If I was to give this book a rating it would be a high number on my part.

When Jacob Portman was young he used to listen to his grandfather tell him stories about people and young kids that he knew. The stories seemed to be fantasies more then anything. As Jacob grew older he started to have a hard time believing what his grandfather was telling him.His grandfather would show him pictures but, still Jacob wasn't sure what to believe. Then, one night his grandfather started to talk nonsense. He went to find his grandfather only to find him laying on the ground dead. Out of the corner os Jacob's eye he saw the monster that his grandfather talked about or thought he did.

Because of the things going on with Jacob, both of his parents decided it was time for him to see an therapist. So they sent him to see Dr. Galon. Jacob began to tell Dr. Galon the stories and the dreams he was having. Finally, Dr. Galon told Jacob that it wouldn't be a bad idea if he took a trip to find out the truth for himself. So, Jacob and his father desided to take that trip together.

Where they ended up at, was an island. After a day or so, Jacob decided to see if he can find the house that his grandfather talked about and to see if he could find anything more about the kids and this Miss Peregrine was. With his looking around he found a chest and he needed to unlock it. After sending it sailing downwards and ending up in the basement he went down there and found more and more pictures. Some time had gone by and he heard noices of children's footsteps and that's when he met Emma.

Following the girl he didn't know that it would lead to some place that he never knew existed. That's when he met Miss Peregrine and the rest of the peculiar children that lived there. Each child had a different thing they could do and Emma could make fireballs with her hands.

As the story went on, Jacob learned a lot about what they were and things he wasn't sure he could explain to his father. when things started to happen and Jacob needed to figure out how to help them the story moved very fast. I'll say this, if you haven't read this book, pick it up and read it. Its very worth it. I can't tell you what happens to Jacob or those children but, thier life as they knew it changes. They needed to save their Miss Peregrine but, in the end they need to save thier way of life too.

Pick up the book, you'll be quite happy you did. Well, I'm off to start my next book. Remember to read a good book, you'll be glad you did.
